Tahoe Rim Trail

The Tahoe Rim Trail is one of the world’s premier trails. It passes through two states (California and Nevada), six counties, one state park, three National Forests, and three Wilderness areas. This spectacular trail is 165 miles of single-track multiuse trail, winding from peak to peak around Lake Tahoe. It is a trail that offers something for everyone! Hiking and horseback riding are allowed on all portions of the trail, while mountain biking is allowed on the trail except in wilderness areas, Lake Tahoe Nevada State Park, and on trail segments that overlap the Pacific Crest Trail.

The Lake Tahoe Bike Trail Map is the most comprehensive bike trail map for the region.  Produced by the Lake Tahoe Bicycle Coalition, this easy to use trail map is an excellent way to plan your Tahoe cycling adventure – whether it be on the road or on the dirt.  Maps are also available at Bike Shops and Visitors Centers throughout the Tahoe region.

Regan Beach

Regan Beach is a couple of blocks down Lakeview Avenue at Sacramento Avenue and has restrooms, handicapped restrooms, picnic facilities, a snack bar, volleyball, playground and grassy areas. No parking fee.

Round Hill Pines Beach & Marina- H2O Sports

Round Hill Pines Beach Resort and Marina which is located only 2 miles North of Stateline, Nevada off Highway 50 offers the following activities: Jet Ski Rentals, Parasailing, Yacht Tours, Tennis, Heated Swimming Pool, Kayaks Rentals, 1/4 Mile Sandy Beach.

Ski Run Beach

Restrooms, Handicapped restrooms, picnic facilities and day use fee.

Tallac Picnic Area

The Tallac Historic Site offers something for everyone and is adjacent to Kiva picnic area and the Taylor Creek Visitor Center.  Many paths and most buildings are accessible.

Zephyr Cove Beach

Restrooms, handicapped restrooms, Marina (Summer seasonal), picnic facilities and BBQ grills. Day use/parking fee.

Baldwin Beach

Restrooms, picnic facilities, fire pits/BBQ grills. Day use fee.

Camp Richardson Historic Resort & Marina

Offering lakefront cabins, historic hotel and Beachside Inn as well as RV & camping. An onsite restaurant, the Beacon Bar & Grill is open year round. The Camp Richardson Marina has boat and Seadoo rentals, kayaks & paddle boats, parasailing,and more.

Connolley Beach

Connolley Beach is northeast of El Dorado Beach on Hwy 50 behind the Timber Cove Lodge.

El Dorado Beach & Boat Ramp

El Dorado Beach and Boat Ramp is across from Campground by the Lake on Hwy 50 and Lakeview Ave. with concessionaire, lakeside picnic and BBQ areas. Boat ramp availability depends on lake level.

Emerald Bay Beach

In 1969, Emerald Bay was designated a National Natural Landmark for its brilliant panorama of mountain-building processes and glacier carved granite. The natural beauty, geology and history of this unique island make it one of the highlights of any visit to the Lake Tahoe area.

Kiva Beach

Lakeside Beach

Lakeside Beach, one of the finest sand beaches on the entire Lake on the South/East Shore is privately owned by Lakeside Park Association. Lakeside Beach provides a lifeguard in summer season to overlook a protected swim area.

Nevada Beach

Parks

Van Sickle Bi-State Park

The site is unique in its location within the Basin’s largest urban area. Within a few minutes’ walk from the casino core, it is possible to enjoy a high-quality natural experience. This strategic location immediately transitions from the dense urban context to a natural setting and provides opportunities for short day use outings, longer hikes, extraordinary views of Lake Tahoe, and enjoyment of an historic barn which showcases the region’s cultural heritage.

Washoe Meadows State Park

Washoe Meadows State Park, located on the outskirts of South Lake Tahoe, is a completely undeveloped park. Its use—even its whereabouts—is virtually unknown except by local walkers, runners and Nordic skiers.

Zephyr Cove Park Disc Golf

A famous disc golf course in the high Sierra on Lake Tahoe's east shore. Major elevation. Hiking boots and long pants recommended (6 fairways with manzanitas).

Bijou Community Park

Bijou Community Park is South Lake Tahoe’s only true community park. Constructed in 1992, the park offers diverse recreation opportunities to both residents and visitors alike. Highlights include: basketball court, fenced dog park open to the public, fitness course, historic railroad exhibit, disc golf, open meadow, restroom / concession facility, skateboard park, two covered gazebos with barbecue pits, and volleyball courts.

D.L. Bliss and Emerald Bay State Park

Offer the most breathtaking views of the lake, the mountains, and Tahoe's only island - Fannette Island. Both of these parks have campgrounds, opportunities for hiking, swimming, fishing, and interpretive activities.

Desolation Wilderness

63,475-acre wilderness area with hundreds of glacial lakes, sub-Alpine forests, valleys and granite peaks. Visitors will find Desolation in its natural form and on its own terms - meaning sudden storms, fires and other hazards may be encountered.

Ed Z'berg Sugar Pine Point State Park

This beautiful park along the shore of Lake Tahoe features a year round operated campground, the Ehrman Mansion and Sugar Pine Point Nature Center.

Emerald Bay Beach

In 1969, Emerald Bay was designated a National Natural Landmark for its brilliant panorama of mountain-building processes and glacier carved granite. The natural beauty, geology and history of this unique island make it one of the highlights of any visit to the Lake Tahoe area. The park features Vikingsholm, one of the finest examples of Scandinavian architecture in the western hemisphere and the "Tea House" on Fannette Island, the only island to be found in all of Lake Tahoe.

Emerald Bay Underwater State Park

As a scuba diver in Emerald Bay, you will enjoy an experience unavailable to most visitors to the lake. You have the opportunity to view and touch the artifacts of an age long past.

Grover Hot Springs State Park

Grover Hot Springs State Park is located on the east side of the Sierra at the edge of the Great Basin Province, characterized by open pine forest, and sagebrush and meadows. The park has a pool complex with a hot pool and a swimming pool hot springs, a campground, picnic area and hiking trails.

Lakeview Commons

The Lakeview Commons property comprises a significant, visible assemblage of public space within the City of South Lake Tahoe. Portions of this 56-acre site were deeded to El Dorado County by D. L. Bliss in 1923 and by the Lake Valley Community Club in 1959. The City of South Lake Tahoe, through a cooperative lease agreement with El Dorado County, operates and manages the on-site facilities and uses for public park, recreation, cultural, and visitor information purposes. 

Tahoe Paradise Park

Lake Baron for fishing opportunities as well as excellent calm water for skiing or wake boarding. Tennis courts and the clubhouse, which features a wading pool and full size roasting spit.

Taylor Creek Visitor Center and Stream Profile Chamber

Located on Hwy 89 three miles north of South Lake Tahoe offers numerous self-guided trails with award winning signs. An underground chamber features a cut-away of the stream so visitors can view fish behind the glass.

   

Golf

Bijou Municipal Golf Course

Bijou is the oldest golf course in South Lake Tahoe. This golf course is perfect for beginners and families with a 9-hole, par 33 layout, and the best bang for your buck. Bijou Golf offers Senior discounts throughout the week and is kid-friendly.

Carson Valley Golf Course

Carson Valley Golf has been in the family for more than 40 years. With more trees than any other course in Carson Valley, you get a longer golf season and you play cooler in the summer, especially with the cool rush of the Carson River nearby.

Edgewood Tahoe Golf Course
